3-D MODELING
We are using some of the latest 3-D modeling software for our concepts, designs, analysis, and drawings. And while it is a very useful and powerful tool, the rendered models are just plain cool. Here is some stuff that we have done with our software.
Keep an eye on this page, as I will be continually changing things here.

Here we used the 3-D modeling to help visualize the interconnection conduits prior to installation.

The rack for the calibration standards in our Large Immersion Tank was the very first 3-D model when we got the software. Here, the rendered image was merged onto a photo of the immersion tank that it was to be used in just to see what it would look like . Later, a photo was taken of the installation of the real thing from the nearly identical location. Here they are, side by side.

The Jack for the Large Immersion Tank. The second 3-D models.

A 7-foot diameter agitator blade that we worked on (Did I mention we do OTHER stuff besides NDT?). The first is rendered in steel, the second in blue glass, just for fun! Final picture is of the real thing.

Here I did a layout of the 17 Foot
Immersion Tank on the flatbed to be sure if and how it would fit. (Tarp
omitted for clarity

We also have a Finite Element Analysis package. With this, we can optimize our designs, or prove concepts.
The study below is for a modification to an existing filter housing which is 30 inches in diameter. This is the top plate. The customer wanted to increase the diameter of the three (3) filter canisters as well as reverse the flow. We determined what the maximum diameter of the filter canisters could be.
From left to right, the images below show the solid model with loads and constraints, the 3-D FEA elements, the resultant von Mises Stresses, the Maximum Shear Stresses, and finally the Deflected plate (deflections multiplied 50X).

Below is a guide roller bracket for our Rail Inspection System. On the left is a FEA study of different configurations of the bracket. The middle is the resultant design. And on the right is the photo of the actual part in use.

Innovative Test Systems has also just purchased the latest finite element software from ALGOR. Below are some examples from our recently completed line of ERW Pipe Scanners.
